Abstract:

The purpose of this article is to stress the pattern of continuity in Palestine’s modern history, beginning with the late Ottoman Period, as a geo-political entity with its own cultural cohesiveness and distinctiveness. The search is for both the political structures that existed and those offered as alternatives.

إذا كان تصريح أحمد قريع حول اللجوء إلى خيار الدولة ثنائية القومية هو التعبير عن الأفق المسدود أمام "المفاوض الفلسطيني"، فإنه كذلك يطرح مسألة في غاية الخطورة، ربما لا تشير إلى أن هذا المفاوض قد فهم "العقل الإسرائيلي". حيث لم يستوعب بعدُ أن للدولة الصهيونية إستراتيجية لن تتراجع عنها هكذا، وبمفاوض ساذج وقوى هزيلة، وبتشابك في المصالح الاقتصادية أقامته الشركات الصهيونية لربط هذا المفاوض بمصالحها، وبالتالي بجعله لا يقدر سوى على الموافقة على ما تريد، أو المضيّ في اللعبة الإسرائيلية إلى نهايتها. فالمفاوضات لعبة هدفها التغطية على استمرار السيطرة على الأرض وتوسيع الاستيطان، وإكمال جدار العزل.

Each year, in preparation for Israel's birthday, American newspaper editors feel an urge to invite Arab writers to tell us why Israel should not exist. Typical this year were the Los Angeles Times (Opinion, May 12 "Forget the two-state solution", by Saree Makdisi) and the Christian Science Monitor (Ghada Karmi "A One-state Solution for Palestinians and Israelis", May 30, 2008), where the elimination of Israel were advanced under the usual euphemism of a "one-state solution."

Contemporary Israeli-Jewish society constitutes fertile ground for fascist and racist politics. However it is equally probable that the much quoted "Demoralization caused by the State" as experienced by members of this society will eventually lead a sizable group away from some faulty basic values of Zionist practice and ideology.

Introduction:

This paper is written as a contribution to the discussion in the Anti Imperialist Camp about perspectives for work within the imperialist countries. The situation in Palestine is very different from that of Europe or the US. Since the beginning of the Zionist colonization of Palestine, some 130 years ago, Jews in Palestine were a small enclave of settler population in the midst of the Arab homeland. Colonialism is not external expansionism of some imaginary “western-capitalist Israel”, but the essence of Israel’s existence.

I have read your document with great attention, and wish here to present a rebuttal of several of its points.

بعد 60 سنة على إقامة دولة إسرائيل، وبعد أكثرَ من قرنٍ على الصراع بين المشروع الصهيوني والمشروع الوطني القومي الفلسطيني العربي، استطاعت إسرائيل أن تحققَ العديدَ من الإنجازات:

1- اكتسبت إسرائيل العديد من مظاهر القوةِ العسكرية والسياسية والاقتصادية.

2- عززت موقعها الدوليّ ومستوى شراكتها في المشروع الإمبريالي الدوليّ.

يعتمد الباحثون على المصطلح لوصف حالة معينة ويحاولون أن يكونوا أكثر دقة في انتقاء المصطلح ومعنى المصطلح، فمنهم من ينتقي لفظة ويقول اعني بها كذا وكذا. إن لفظة النكبة لدى البعض ومنهم د. إيلان بابيه المؤرخ الجديد الجريء، لم تعد كافية لوصف الحالة ولوصف أحداث 1948.. أولا لأنها عمل إنساني والمقصود بشري أو من صنع البشر وليس قدرا من السماء وثانيا لأنه مع مرور الزمن ومع فتح الخلايا المغلقة في الدماغ البشري ومع فتح الأرشيفات التي كانت مغلقة وفتحت جزئيًّا أو كليا بفعل تقادم الزمن.. فإننا نكتشف أن مصطلح النكبة لم يعد كافيا، وعلينا استبداله بكلمات ادق لوصف الحالة- "التطهير العرقي في فلسطين".

ברכות למארגני ובאי הכנס החשוב. התוכנית מרגשת, מכסה היבטים שונים של נושאים שעד היום נדונו כמעט רק במסגרות פרטיזניות.
בדברי היום אני מבקשת לעמוד מעט על הסיבה לכך שבמשך שנים התעקשתי להיצמד לרעיון החלוקה לשתי מדינות ועל הסיבה לכך ששיניתי לאחרונה את דעתי. נדמה לי שניתן ללמוד כמה לקחים מן הסיפור האישי הזה.

בתוך ים הכותרות הרודפות זו את זו, נדחקה מהר מדי הכותרת של "הארץ" מיום ששי האחרון, שבישרה על כך שגם שמעון פרס, אדריכל הסכמי אוסלו, מיואש מהסיכוי להסדר עם הפלשתינים. זו כותרת שהיתה צריכה לעורר דיון ציבורי הרבה יותר רחב - שהרי היא נוגעת לאחד התהליכים הכי חשובים בעולמנו, ובוודאי כשהיא נשמעת ממי שנחשב כאחד ממובילי תהליך ההסדר.
